Three Intentional Pathways

Choosing Your Path

Every family is built differently, and every donor's gift is personal. At Ovita Donor Solutions, we offer three distinct matching models to perfectly align with your timeline, family goals, and privacy preferences.

PATH A

De-Identified · Frozen

The On-Demand Frozen Path

Best for speed, simplicity, and absolute privacy.

Semen samples have already been donated, thoroughly screened, and safely frozen into vials in our bank. Intended parents select from available inventory and have vials shipped immediately to their fertility clinic without any logistical delays. No identifying information is ever exchanged.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What are the types of sperm donation based on relationship dynamics?

Sperm donation is categorized by relationship dynamics — specifically privacy and contact preferences.

De-Identified (Anonymous) Donation: The most common path. No identifying information, names, or contact details are ever shared between the donor and the intended parents, establishing total privacy boundaries for both parties.

Open (Identified) Donation: Contact information and identities are mutually shared from the beginning. This allows the intended parents and the donor to establish direct communication and a transparent relationship right from the start.

ID-Release (Open at 18): The donor remains completely anonymous while the child is growing up. However, the donor legally agrees that when the donor-conceived child turns 18, the bank can release the donor's contact information directly to the adult child upon request.

Known (Directed) Donation: The donor is someone the intended parents already know personally — such as a close friend, family member, or a donor they recruited independently. The agency and clinic handle the legal contracts, psychological evaluation, and medical screening.

How do I choose the right sperm donor?

Consider what matters most to you: physical resemblance, education, personality, values, or ethnic background. Some families prioritize one factor; others look for a balance. Our team helps you clarify your priorities and narrow your search.

What is the difference between anonymous and known donors?

Anonymous donors remain confidential — you receive detailed non-identifying information but no name or contact. Known (open-identity) donors agree to have their identity released to children once they reach age 18. Both options are legally protected.

How much sperm do I need to purchase?

Most families purchase 2–4 vials for their first treatment cycle. IUI typically uses 1–2 vials per attempt; IVF uses 1 vial. Many families buy extra vials from the same donor in case they need multiple attempts or want future siblings.

How much does donor sperm cost?

Sperm vials typically cost $800–$1,200 per vial, depending on the donor and specimen type (IUI-ready or IVF). Agency fees, legal costs, and shipping add $500–$2,000. Total costs are significantly lower than egg donation.

Can I see photos of the donor?

Yes. All profiles include childhood photos and most include adult photos. Some donors provide audio interviews or extended profiles for an additional fee.

What if my donor runs out of vials?

Popular donors can sell out. If you plan to have multiple children, consider purchasing and storing extra vials from your chosen donor early. We can help you plan for sibling vials.

Is donor sperm safe?

Yes. All sperm is quarantined for six months and the donor is retested for infectious diseases before release. This ensures the highest safety standards.

Can I use the same donor for future children?

Yes. We strongly encourage families to reserve vials from the same donor for future siblings. Many families purchase extra vials upfront and store them for later use.
